Sorry, NOT the most innovative and influential alumni in the ACC. Yes, there are bright spots in the UMD alumni group - as there are for every ACC school, even Pitt (God help them). But despite the most fervent wishes of UMD Booster, UMD does not have the "brand recognition" or prestige of a Duke, Virginia or even UNC. [i]It just doesn't.[/i] There are issues at every school, including those I just named, but MD is not immune to them and while it's certainly a good school with a solid reputation, it's honestly no better than lots of other state schools like UVA, Michigan, UT, Berkeley even William & Mary.

And its campus is fugly. [/quote]
