My parents were both, indeed, raised under a material standard that I would call "old money."  Multiple servants, private schooling, a 7 bedroom house, fine furniture, a horse, etc.  When my grandmother died my father inherited an entire apartment building in a large city.

My dear, those apartment buildings in eastern bloc countries are worth pennies on the dollar. And of course they had a horse -- no doubt a cart to go with it. If they had been [i]wealthy,[/i] they would have had a [i]pony[/i].[/quote]
