August dates - We have a brief "transition" period that takes place over the course of two days. During the first week of school, our EC students only attend class on Thursday and Friday. On Thursday, about half of the class is assigned to come to school for the full day (e.g. Let's say students with last names beginning A-L). On Friday, the other half of the class comes (e.g. M-Z last names). On the following Monday, all students are expected to come to class. That's all we have for our transition.

Because of the way in which the lottery system works, and with daily changes to waitlists during this period, spots will fluctuate as there is movement between schools. Several of the students in my classroom this year did not start until mid-September--not because of any transition program, but because that was when space was available for them.
