Well, yeah, it could be your age, or it could be that you are essentially doing the same functions for free right now, and have given them no indication that you would desist from doing so if they hired someone else for the paid position.  From an employer's perspective, OP, keeping you right where you are is a great deal, regardless of your age.[/quote]
