Some liberals oppose it because they hear their teachers union friends whining with the usual "we fear change" whine. And of late, conservative media seems to be jumping on the hate bandwagon really only because Arne Duncan is giving out money and because of their general sense of having to ramp up the false outrage whenever "some liberal is going around telling us what's best".
