As a Christian who works in a very liberal work environment, I would never, ever disclose my faith. I am not ashamed of it but I hear the intolerance and the hatred in comments and jokes every day and I have no desire to engage in the defense of my faith in the workplace. It would also be the death knell pretty much in terms of how others perceived me given their perception of Christians. As inaccurate as their perception is, I don't feel it is my responsibility to jeopardize my job to change it.
Ditto. I have worked in the same place for 23+ . No one there knows that I was raised as a JW, no one.
Ditto again. (Ditto ditto. Or something) This was my experience in my office, also a very liberal office, for 5-6 years. In the past few years, though, a few Catholics have joined the staff. I'm not Catholic myself, but finally I can talk about my Christian religion with these people, at least! It's a pleasure. Of course I don't feel "persecuted" in the bigger scheme of things. But if the question is, is their any shame/reticence in the office, then the answer is "yes" for me, too.
