Or you could just try and be spontaneous and get her something that is not linked to giving for a special event. Years ago we did away with gifts for the "special occasion". Not intended to be an anti-consumer statement or any kind of statement. But whatever works for you ........[/quote]

DW here.  I think that sort of thing is just showy BS.  Send them to the house, or bring them to me. (Which is what DH generally does). I don't need to show off to random colleagues.[/quote]

Last thing on my mind was to make a "show" of it! We've been happily married for 25+ years so the need to make a "show" of it is a low priority.

The thing about giving a gift for a special occasion is that most of the time neither of us can think of anything that the other really wants or would like. But during the course of the year something or the other comes up and then rather than wait for a special occasion we just do it right then.[/quote]
