I think the other posters were more offended by the idea of spending a month to dump fruit in syrup on box cake mix.[/quote] Interesting, the Amish friendship starter I have used has no cake mix...ingredients are quite simple milk, sugar, yeast, flour and then the great flavor comes from the fermentation process and some people add different flavors before baking. I like a spice type cake, so I add fresh nutmeg, cinnamon, and ginger, topping with a nice brown sugar/cinnamon crust. Fermented foods are something I'm really into. Do you eat yogurt or Keffir?[/quote]
