Domperidone is not approved by the FDA in the US, but it is approved in other countries (Canada, for example). And yes, it's not approved for increasing supply, but there are lots of medications that health care providers routinely prescribe for off-label use (i.e., prescribed for a purpose other than the purpose approved by the drug-approval agency).[/quote]

It not only not FDA-approved, but the FDA has issued an explicit warning against it to lactating mothers:

And what particularly concerns me is that the drug is excreted in the breastmilk and thus fed to your baby, with unknown risks. Here you are, worrying about drinking alcohol or taking other drugs while pregnant or breastfeeding, but not about taking this drug against which there is an explicit FDA warning? People must really think formula is poison if they believe this is a better option.[/quote]
