Funny, I'm the OP and we were raised Episcopalian. My mother is the queen of the catholic haters and told me almost from the day I could walk what was wrong with the Catholic Church. Sin all week and just go to confession. Never go to a catholic doctor if I were pregnant, because in an emergency, he would save the baby and let me die. Those types of things..,

And I find the Catholic bashing odd, mostly because all the Catholics I know in real life and nice, normal, middle of the road people. I may not agree with religion in general, but the Catholics I know are very nice.

There's a difference between "bashing" the Catholic Church (the institution, the leadership, the scandals, the policies, etc), and the lay people. I agree that most Catholic people are reasonable, decent people. But you can't confuse the former, for the latter. To criticize the former, is very fair.[/quote]
