While school is open (including aftercare) the school has exclusive use of its property and you're complaining? Go away please. When the school isn't using the property, go right ahead and use it - when the school is in session (including before and after care, even if they're not on the equipment that very second) find one of the MANY public playgrounds in Silver Spring.
Aftercare programs are separate from the school. They contract with the school to use the facilities but there is no exclusivity rule.
OP here. The aftercare program does not even go outside until 1 hour after school ends. The after school activities use the soccer field. Our children want to play on the playground equipment which is separated from the soccer field. So far no one has said this happens at their school and that makes me think this is not common.
It happens at my school. But there is a park next door so it's not a major problem. I don't know if it's an ironclad rule but parents keep their kids away from the school facility while he aftercare is in session. How do you know there is no exclusivity rule? Have you seen the contract? It seems reasonable to me that those who use the school (or rent the school) have exclusive use of its facilities.
