Look for combinations. Stripes x Stripes aren't worth it. Look at Stripes & Wrapped Candies are good. Stripes & Chocolate Balls/Color Bombs are also powerful. Color Bombs & Color Bombs will clear the board. Watch out of the individual bombs. Sometimes it's easier to kill them off with a stripe rather than get it in just the right position.
