I am the level 80 poster. I would like to clarify that I have never synced the game with FB, never gotten any help from "friends", and never purchased anything from the app.

I think Level 97 is one of the most frequently google'd levels. You need a bit of luck and a couple combinations to clear that one.

I watched a couple how to videos for that one after three weeks.
Concentrate on candies at the bottom. As they fall they often end up creating patterns at the top.
Look for combinations. Stripes x Stripes aren't worth it. Look at Stripes & Wrapped Candies are good. Stripes & Chocolate Balls/Color Bombs are also powerful. Color Bombs & Color Bombs will clear the board.
Watch out of the individual bombs. Sometimes it's easier to kill them off with a stripe rather than get it in just the right position.
