And see I'm the opposite.  I think you should just name your kid what you want to call him.  My grandpa's name was Jack (John) and if I ever had a boy I was going to name him Jack because I love the name.[/quote]

same - my grandfather went by Jack (it was his middle name....not another name like John or James and he went by Jack, his middle name was Jack and he went by that).  I'm not bothered if people don't like it, since he was an amazing man and if we have a boy, he'll hear a lot about him.

I thought this morning they were saying the Bush-Hager baby was "Nila".  Not Mila.  I don't really understand it in terms of blending both names - where's the "i" in Margaret? I also don't understand naming people after living relatives.  But I am happy for them - she seemed like a very down to earth pregnant woman facing her own fears and issues whenever she talked about it on TV, and I could identify with that...even if I think her dad is a POS!
