Anyone bitching about affirmative action was a shitty college applicant seeking a way to justify their failure. Stop complaining, the college process works. If you didn't get into any good schools, you're just shitty. Its not because some unintelligent, inner city black kid named Jamal stole your spot.
Keep telling yourself that if it makes you feel better. The real harm of AA is that URM's that could have made it without AA are lumped those who couldn't.
So your assumption is that URM students only get into college by virtue of AA? I guess that lumps you in with all of the people calling for the president's grades.
No. I will explain this to you. Many people who are/were in a position of hiring (myself included) discount an ivy league degree held by a URM based on the very reasonable assumption that the URM benefited from AA. We KNOW that URM students do NOT only get into college by virtue of AA because URM students got into Ivy League schools long before AA, but we also KNOW that most URM students benefited from AA. From a typical resume, there is no way to KNOW which URM would have gotten into an Ivy League school without AA. This is a reality that plagues those URM would have gained admittance without AA. But, again, as a person who hires and promotes, I can tell you that college pedigree does NOT directly correlate to workplace success. So yeah, I do think that President Obama got into Columbia and Harvard because of his skin tone. I also think George W. Bush got into Yale and HBS because of his family connections. Call me crazy.
