I was just wondering this last night. From what I understand, 2nd St students often take the school shuttles in early middle school, but most transition to taking Metro in upper grades. How is that shaking out for Cooper? Cooper feels a lot less transit accessible than 2nd St to me. Do Cooper students keep riding the school shuttles into upper grades, or do they just make do with transit?
Cooper is a mile from Brookland metro. 2nd street is .8 of a mile. Not sure why people keep saying 2nd street is so close to the metro. Plus you have to cross NH ave to get to 2nd st. Lots of Brookland kids just take the d74 and others metro and do the same. My kid is at cooper and takes the d74. She has to cross 2 streets on the way to school after she gets off the bus and a crossing guard is at 1 of them. The guard is there on the way home also. And Latin has someone posted to assist.
Sounds like you live off the Red Line. We don't.
