Yeah, PP is right. Thin and unattractive works if you dress well. French women for example are very good at this.
Sarah Jessica Parker, Carolyn Bessette Kennedy, etc. are also good examples of this.
But if those are your examples, then your definition of "unattractive" is really expansive. SJP and CBK are/were unusual looking, so not beautiful, but also have/had certain qualities that make it much easier to make the look very attractive with good styling -- symmetrical faces, nice eyes, good natural teeth (or good orthodontia -- the point is they had nice teeth without veneers), strong cheekbones, and good jaw lines. Also truly fantastic hair for both of them -- thick and healthy even at longer lengths. They both had long faces and prominent noses, and that's what kept them from being truly beautiful. But they were not "unattractive." They had a lot to work with and both did a good job of maximizing their looks, including by staying very thin.
SJP had a good body (boobs) that made her naturally average. Style raised her up. CBK did not have the body and only money to make her passable as almost attractive. Paris Hilton is average looking, but has more to work with than CBK. Without their last names they are nothing.
I would love to see how any person who says CBK was not pretty looks like themselves. Carolyn had a very pretty, classical Greek features and Botticelli level pretty face. Also she was thin and elegant
