This says more about the quality of the kid than the coach.  Coaches don’t matter if your kid is good.  They are all dud coaches man….wake up.[/quote]

I agree that a coach doesn’t necessarily make a kid a good player, but they can certainly do damage in terms of making a kid feel frustrated and demoralized. If you can find out a way to avoid that ahead of time you can save your kid a lot of heartache. [/quote]

And how would you find that out definitively?  Many of you think you can tell the future.  If we are talking about top teams (MLSN 1 or ECNL/GA) and you say no to an offer cause you don’t know the coach, you aren’t serious.  The rest of the teams it might matter more cause it’s more for fun.  [/quote]

That’s because you aren’t in that situation.  Those leagues are about exposure for your kid…opportunities.  Barring something like the coach hates my kid or me as the parent, if you have an offer to a top team you should be considering what that platform can provide on your journey…not if the coach is good.  Spoiler: none are good and most have multiple teams…it’s a joke.  [/quote]
