OP you need to understand you are proposing to make your family much more complex. Working around a whole stepfamily situation for every visit, and making the end of life immensely more difficult. Don't be so oblivious as to think it's all about your happiness and doesn't affect others. It does. And you don't seem very happy with this woman anyway. Nobody wants a stepmother who yells nasty things and then lies about it. It seems like the two of you are alike in your lack of common sense self-control, but that's not a good thing.
