Which is fine. I don't know why you guys are so hung up on doing something for Valentine's Day. It's just one made-up celebration. You can have a very low-key day to mark the occasion, or do nothing at all.

Separately, no one "needs" to get out. Maybe you need to get out, but other people don't. You two need to stop believing that everyone else should live the lives that you lead. Everyone is different, and that's OK.

I appreciate it more when my husband thought of me on a random day and bought me 2 slices of my favorite cheesecake from a restaurant that was out of his way than on a day that others state he should buy me overpriced chocolate and flowers. My daughters seen that my husband thought of me on a random day not a day that others say he's supposed to.

But with that said valentines day is also my grandsons birthday so we now celebrate him which outweighs everything else.
