Your boyfriend and his daughter are crap people. She hit a small child. She didn't tell him to stop, didn't move away, didn't ask a parent to step in, just hit him. And her parent took her out and rewarded that behavior. I would dump him and apologize to my actual relative.
This. 4/5 year olds are annoying to older kids. My kids were always in their older siblings stuff, messing up their rooms, getting into their make up, drawing on their things. I told them not to and gave them consequences, but in the end it was just something they had to grow out of. I get it - she swatted him to get him away. But the fact remains - we don’t teach kids my hitting them! We just don’t. A 15 year old should know this. If my kid did this I would feel like a failure as a parent because it’s a lesson learned before 5, especially if they were never spanked. I never hit my kids and they don’t hit. An appropriate response for the 15 year old is to: leave, get a parent, engage the boy (he just wants attention), talk to the boy - never hit the boy. Also your boyfriend is nuts!! Rewarding awful behavior is just so bad I can’t begin to tell you. I’d leave him simply for rewarding his daughter for hitting a baby.
