DS took Algebra 1 H in 7th, kids either did really well or they struggled. There was very little in between. The kids who were ready, were ready. Some had been in math enrichment but we know DS friends had not taken any enrichment and did well in 7th grade A1H. They all worked harder than DS, we heard about the homework load from their parents, but they could handle the class.

I would not have my kid take A1H in 7th grade unless they were in the 95th percentile on the MAP and passed advanced on the SOL. Rushing foundational math is not a good idea. Taking math early and needing a tutor or stressing over the class is not necessary or healthy. Kids get into great colleges with their highest math being Calculus every year. [/quote]
