The same thing happened to us. 100% correct on FLI and dinged at HM & Riverdale. We weren't at a connected preschool (moving from out of state), so found it very difficult to navigate the system without any guidance or feedback.
This is years ago. DD got in HM K. She did not get a perfect score on FLI. We came from public so we did not have any feedback. We really did not know the process but knew schools like first choice letters. We sent our first choice letter to HM. We were lucky. About a year later, my friend’s DS who was from a connected preschool also had question about lack of feedback from HM and whether she should first choice it despite not having feedback. According to her, PSD told her HM told everyone that they are not giving feedback. PSD encouraged her to go with the school that her school feeds into because she got a great feedback. She went with a safe choice. But that same year, a parent from the same preschool as my friend spoke with PSD as to whether she should send a first choice letter to a different TT (not HM) and PSD said she got a good feedback so was encouraged to go for it. She did but did not get in to that TT. I am guessing sometimes feedback or PSD’s guidance is not a guarantee. If your preschool is a feeder to a school, then that is “almost” guaranteed but if not, everything is very fluid.
Agree with this. Know people that got good feedback (like basically you're in) at Brearley and Trinity and came up empty handed at time of admissions. Ended up at a hill school
Did these people submit a first choice letter?
Yes
