Plenty of people seem fine with it, but the pill made my lows really low. Watch for serious depression / mood changes regardless of whether the cramps subside.
This happened to me too as a teen. I didn't realize it was a possible side effect of the pill, but being on it made me very depressed. BTW, I have never heard of having to take a pregnancy test to be prescribed birth control.
Yep. Watch for negative side effects. I have been on birth control in some capacity since I was 17, not always for sex! Helped my skin, fixed painful cramps, etc. Never had a problem with hormonal birth control. In contrast, my sister does not tolerate hormonal birth control and gained a ton of weight. We were actually just talking about this the other day and she said she doesn't talk about it a lot because she never wants to fear monger but she just doesn't tolerate it well. So, just keep an eye out. But most women tolerate it just fine.
+1 I went on it to just control my crazy periods and it was completely worth it. But as I got older I realized how much better I felt when I was in my thirties and not taking it Long story short, it was life saving in my teens/early twenties. I wasn't having sex before I was 21.. But in my thirties I realized it was not for me.
