This policy will force women who were raped in the military to give birth to their rapists baby. There is no way around it. Around 25% of women who active duty service members are raped at some time during their service. There are military bases that are more than 1000 miles from the nearest abortion clinic because they are completely surrounded by abortion ban states. The military also is not allowed to give leave for women to obtain an abortion due to recent policy changes. The military controls theses women’s schedule and they have banned access to the procedure even if they are raped. So the answer is unequivocally yes that the military now has a policy of forcing women who were raped to give birth. [/quote]

+1 the Hyde amendment was never about taxpayer funding for abortions. There are plenty of other things that the government does which people find objectionable, but we don’t opt out of funding those because some people disagree with it. Eg. People can’t opt out of paying taxes because they are against the military. The Hyde amendment has always been a tool to restrict access to medical care and ban/restrict access to abortions.
