Fwiw, it’s not about “name brand only” for me or for my daughter (who btw is an adult and absolutely knows about dupes without my telling her). I know there’s no way to prove this to any of you, and that’s fine, but I’m not that person. I’m a second-hand/vintage  shopper in almost all cases. My closet and home is filled with Goodwill and fb Marketplace goods.

But I think if someone is spending $150 on what they think is a just-right name-brand item, it should actually be that item. Otherwise they are being taken advantage of by the least scrupulous among us. I dunno, that seems kinda existentially crummy.

Anyway, thanks for all your input and suggestions. I didn’t realize I could exchange without cousin knowing. Appreciate it, and I appreciate all of you (even the ones who assumed I was The Worst — we’d actually probably get along quite well irl). Happy holidays, all.
