When I was at W&L in the 1990s, the vast majority of the student body was center-left or center- right. Most Republicans on campus were socially liberal and fiscally conservative. From what I’ve heard, the students there are now more liberal. Because the student body is not monolithic when it comes to politics, you are far more likely to find free speech there than at most other universities. I have no personal experience with CM though.
