I think there is a preschool at the Russian cultural center on Phelps St in Kalorama DC - my children have gone another bilingual program across the street (Spanish - Kids Corner) and I see parents bringing and picking up toddlers from a building with a Russian flag and diplomatic emblem. I don't see reference to a preschool on the website, but you might try them and see (or maybe they will have other suggestions): http://www.rccusa.org/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=38&Itemid=53
It was Russian daycare there, last year it was clouse because of new director at the Russian Cultural Center. He didnt want kids to be there.
Sorry to revive this topic again, but do you by any chance know if they are planning to reopen the daycare? We are thinking about moving to DC in a year-two and hoping to figure out the Russian daycare situation. Another question: is there a Russian storytime in NoVa for the "younger" crowd?
There is no Russian daycare in DC proper as far as I know. The closest match would be the daycare at the Russian embassy compound for the embassy staff. As far as I know, they start at age 3, and they follow the Russian Ministry of Education guidelines, not U.S. daycare regulations. I don't know anyone with kids there right now, so can't really say. There is no Russian storytime in NoVa but you can explore half-day or Saturday preschool in any of the Russian daycare facilities in VA (listed upthread). I believe they start at age 2.5 - 3.
Thank you for the information! Very useful.
