That's what I was thinking. If you follow the law, you will not run into any problems at all. But if you don't want to support such countries, then by all means, decline the invite and explain your reason to your friend. I wouldn't go either. The truth is, 99% of the world is intensely patriarchal. But the Saudi Arabia, the UAE and their neighbors seem to make it a point to not progress in terms of women's rights, and they're OK with modern slavery. Not cool.

I lived in Dubai for years. People, both men and women, loved Dubai. Emiratis are pretty progressive in their own way, many Emirati women work and have careers of their own.  We don't know where OP's trip is or whether she's even real, but the hypocrisy and blind ignorance of this thread is off the charts. [/quote]
