Yeah, my early childhood in the 80s was spent on Army bases overseas and life was pretty idyllic when we had very little choice in where we bought our groceries, clothing, healthcare, etc. There weren’t even any commercials on the one American TV station we had access to—just government sponsored announcements. Reintegrating into American capitalist life—the one our parents were ostensibly defending around the world—was rough on the whole family. [/quote]
