People often talk about how you need a hook for Big 3 admissions for high school. One of the ones always mentioned is sports. Can someone provide any insight as to how sports help the 9th grade admissions process? Does merely playing sports at the middle school level competitively help in admissions when people talk about sports being a hook? Or is there a specific skill level and sport that it has to be? For example, my daughter is a pretty competitive runner, xc and the mile, at the private middle school meets, but not state level (if that exists) and not at the travel level (does that exist for running?)
Running and track are one of the easier sports to measure performance and rankings. If you have her times from various meets, a google search can help you see what the top times for those distances are at different age groups. If she is close to the top then you probably have a hook.
