Parkway was kind of dirty last time I was there. I got some random bacon chunk on my lox platter. Blech. What happened to those places in Bethesda that tried...too bad.
Parkway has always been dirty! But that doesn't deter me;) The Bethesda places failed. The large one above California Totrilla was horrible. The food was poor quality, premade, and reminded me of Kitchen Nightmares. The smaller one had good food but I think the owner just didn't know how to run a business. I wonder if they are hard to be profitable. I think to be good and have high piled meat sandwiches and authentic lox and constantly fresh bagels requires a lot of overhead for inventory. And many ingredient are not cheap. The good delis I know in LA were expensive, even when they looked like hole in the wall joints. I like Loebs.
