CWC is one of the largest OBGYN providers in the area. If 10,000s of their patients (United customers) can no longer access their doctor, there simply won't be enough doctors to go around. Even if you are not a patient at CWC or a United customer, people will be competing for your doctor's time and you will have less access because the largest provider in the area is no longer an option for the United customers. Remember that switching insurance providers when your employer only offers one is not easy!

The email from CWC urged me to call United and complain, urging them to reach an agreement with CWC, so that I can have continuity of care. CWC's email said:

Please call either the number on the back of your member card or[quote] 1-866-801-4409[/quote] to voice your concerns about Capital Women’s Care’s upcoming termination date from the UHC network. Let UHC know that you value your provider and would like your provider as part of Capital Women’s Care to remain in network! If you are part of a group plan, please also ask your Human Resources Department or benefits advisor to advocate with UHC on your behalf.

Please call and complain! Put the pressure on so that there are enough OBGYNs to go around.
