The "If you try hard enough, it will happen" myth is the one perpetuated by our own infertility community. I understand that part of it is preserving one's sanity (why would we go through all of this, if not to have success at some future point), but I also think it makes it harder for people to stop ART treatments, because somehow that means you didn't want it badly enough. I want a child very badly, but I also do not want to spend the better part of my 30s in a soul-sucking, emotionally draining cycle of IVF failure.[/quote]
