+1. That kind of service to the church will help strengthen your ties, strengthen you spiritually, and as a side bonus for you will help you feel more connected to whoever the committee picks.

I was once on a search committee. It did not strengthen me spiritually. It did make me feel more connected to the new pastor.[/quote]
