Disagree. DH and I are both private and not attention whores. He proposed in Rockefeller center. Both of us loved the cheering afterwards. It was personal and meaningful to us.  I also love seeing proposals in public. Quite a few of my friends were very disappointed by their proposals where the guy basically just handed them a ring in their own apartment.

Everyone is different. OP, you’re the only one who knows. I personally would’ve been annoyed at something cheesy like Rockefeller center. I also didn’t want a ring. My DH proposed in our apartment. It was intense and emotional and beautiful and just for us. So do what you know she wants. If you don’t yet know what kind of person she is, then you aren’t ready anyway. [/quote]
