I know this is way off in left field but I'll say it anyway. The reason so many kids today struggle with anxiety is that they are treated as so fragile and precious that they can't deal with a sofabed for a few nights. Kids have real problems that they need protection from and help with. Sleeping on a sofa bed is not one of those problems, and you people reacting like it's horrible even to suggest it are ridiculous. With things like sofabeds, Kids should be told to suck it up and deal. I agree withthe PP who said it's for them to rough it sometimes. We used to call this character building lol, and IMO we weren't wrong.
Not making my boy-girl super tall and lanky teens share a pullout sofa, sorry. Everyone would be so grumpy in the morning, it would make it unpleasant for ME. If we have to stay on a hotel, we usually bring an inflatable, so one gets that and one gets the sofa bed. So they’re both at least moderately uncomfortable. But I have to admit, Airbnbs have spoiled my kids, because I can usually find a place where they both get their own bed, if not their own room. Our vacations are more pleasant if everyone gets space to decompress.
