OP here. You misunderstand. I'm not trying to dress to impress people at the recital. I just want some jewelry to liven up this outfit because *I* think it would look better. It's for me. I am wearing something that I will be comfortable in but it is feeling a bit dour and I just want a necklace or something so that I feel more dressed up.[/quote]

PP you replied to. I felt there was an undercurrent of "what will people think" in your first post, but regardless, none of it matters. We don't know your tastes or what's in your jewelry box, or your budget if you want to buy something, so this thread is pretty pointless. Wear what makes you happy, and next time make sure there is no way to misunderstand your intent when you ask a question.
