We booked a tour of Athens that looked at the ruins through a mythology lens. My Percy Jackson loving kid adored it. Went to the Acropolis and Agora and some other sites.
Would love to hear which tour you used! Starting to plan a trip and my 9yo Percy Jackson fan would love this. I was going to plan 3 nights in Athens (we'd get in late arrivalday) and in addition to a tour like the above thought about a food tour geared toward kids on the second day. Does that sound about right? Any other suggestions for a half day? This would be outside of the main beach season so rather than going to an island I was leaning towards renting a car and driving to Delphi (2 nights) and then the Peloponnese peninsula (likely Nafplio, 3 nights). Has anyone done something like this?
Why would you go to Greece and not go to the islands? That's the entire point of Greece.
As a non-American, I find this statement funny, but YES, please do stick to the islands so you’re not crowding up everywhere else too. As for Athens, it’s not somewhere I’d spend a week but only staying a day is doing it a disservice. You’re not really giving it a chance. Just my opinion though.
