The day to day educational experience for DD was great. That said, without a strong outside social network, she did not develop friendships/relationships with boys. She’s slowly adapting in college, but in hindsight I think she would have been better off in a coed environment at least for HS.
I dunno. After your daughter got the great educational experience, you’re now looking back and saying you wished she’d developed friendships and relationships with boys. High school relationships with boys suck mostly for girls because they are more mature and looking for real relationships while most boys aren’t ready. I can’t think of a single girlfriend who had a great relationship with a guy during the high school years. Most were angstful with guys being jerks because they were immature. We had male friends. Often those friendships were guys wanting more when we didn’t. Great education lays the foundation for the person a girl will become. Relationships with boys, objectification, and the perennial threat of date rape? I’m happy to have my daughter give all those a miss until she’s older.
