You can ask them for a general idea, but yes, this generally is true: the offer will be for the academy not for a specific team within that structure. When joining were told our kid would start with second team but ended up being with first team mostly but "moved down" on occasion to get reps at a particular position. I think they are good about trying to manage expectations--you have to earn your way to the top and they understand younger kids develop at different stages and they will say the top kids at the younger ages may top out at those ages and lower kids may become the top kids and that's all fine. Objective is to find a place that's appropriate for the player. That works for some families and not for others because they just don't believe their player could top out.[/quote]
