I think this all depends. In my circumstance my kid is one of the top players and already plays up 2 years. I was planning on letting the technical director know of our intentions and also asking for guidance on the issue (it’s more for the experience of trying out) I would like to think they will not be vindictive on a young player that would help their program right?
You are wrong. They will be vindictive. They do not care about your kid. Also more to a club where your kid can play at his age. Playing up can lead to serious injuries and can suppress leadership/confidence.
So a program would burn bridges and sabotage their future success? I thought they cared about money and winning? Why throw that away? Yeah my son plays up cause he is around the same size of the kids 2 years older and he is one of the top players on his team. I think that should be good for him. He loves his teammates. But I’ll watch out for confidence issues.
