We skied last spring at Alta/Snowbird. It was fun and we got some fresh snow but lots of areas were already shut down for the season. There won't be ski lessons for kids if you were planning on that. You could probably do private but ski school ends 4/13. Park City, in general, gets less snow than Little and Big Cottonwood Canyons. We were at Alta/Snowbird for Christmas and they were having a lower snow year. We got 3 feet while we were there but some places weren't open yet for skiing. On the plus side, Park City will be open and the crowds will probably be lower. The town is nice and you will probably be able to get restaurant reservations. I hate DC's spring break timing.
You will be okay if you and your kids ski in the higher elevation areas almost exclusively (Jupiter, Mckonkie's, Thaynes, 1990). If your kids like the terrain park, it is usually open throughout closing day. Depending on their ages, they might also like Woodward. Staying in town is a great idea because you can walk to restaurants and shopping. Look up what is playing at the Egyptian while you are there. If you plan to buy an Ikon pass for next year, buy it now and take a day or two at Solitude because you get unlimited access to Solitude if you purchase next year's Ikon pass now. If it's hot, you could rent road bikes one day and ride around town on the Millenial Trail. There is also great hiking in SLC on Shoreline Trail by the University of Utah.
