I personally think that any kid who threatens mass violence at a school should never, ever be allowed in a school building again if they are in 3rd or 4th grade on up. And younger kids should immediately be transferred to a high security therapeutic school. I'm a teacher and I'm OVER being threatened and assaulted. There are some states that are now changing the behavior codes. I'm all for that
"Never, ever" is extreme for a 9 year old. If you don't believe children can learn, why waste time and money having school at all?
Except children who are expelled for making threats will learn and so will their peers when there are actual consequences. And how can anyone learn in unsafe environments? Being threatened is extreme when you're 9 or 6 or whatever. How can everyone learn when their nervous systems are on high alert? How can teachers teach when they are focused on whether they'll be shot?
