And younger kids should immediately be transferred to a high security therapeutic school. I'm a teacher and I'm OVER being threatened and assaulted. There are some states that are now changing the behavior codes. I'm all for that

"Never, ever" is extreme for a 9 year old. If you don't believe children can learn, why waste time and money having school at all?

+1
Automatic expulsion from all Maryland schools.

Kids of all ages need more mental health support, and we need more special ed teachers (pay them MORE for the increased workload with all the extra paperwork along with their regular teacher duties), and more discrete classrooms. LRE (least restrictive environment) has gone too far in the other direction, as many kids need smaller class size and extra attention.
Absolutely. Real consequences might lead to them thinking more carefully about their actions.
Really? A nine year old? Nine year olds don't think about their actions or consequences

Yes, expulsion from any kind of gen Ed school or a sped program within a gen Ed school. Those younger kids can go to therapeutic schools. Or their parents can homeschool them. I'm a teacher of very young children and I am over being hit, kicked, bit, pushed, threatened, etc. OVER IT As an employee, I have a right to be safe. My other students have a right to be safe. As things stand, we are NOT safe. I do not care if kids are 5 years old. Throwing scissors at a teacher is not the behavior of a child that belongs in any kind of a gen Ed or sped within a gen Ed school setting. Period.
