The fact that you think it's better to keep someone in prison for the rest of their lives (on our dime), or maybe even give them a light sentence because they probably had a valid reason to do what they did, or had a traumatic childhood or some such and "oooh he's a human and his life has value" - after he decided to kill two innocent people, tells me there is something seriously wrong with you.[/quote]

I haven’t researched it, but my understanding is that - after one considers the cost of appeals and other costs - on average it’s less expensive to keep someone in prison for life than to execute them. [/quote]
