Try losing below goal for a cushion.
Nope. Your body should have a natural set point that you can maintain without being nutso. If losing vanity weight means you got yourself thinner than your body's natural state, it will come back. If you truly had 15lbs to lose, just keep doing what you're doing now when you're off the medication.
This is nonsense. There is no such thing as “your body’s natural state”. It’s simple math - calories in vs calories out. If you maintain a caloric deficit when you get off the meds, you’ll continue to lose weight. If you eat in a caloric surplus, you’ll game weight. If you eat roughly what your body burns, you’ll maintain your current weight. The meds helped you eat in a deficit because you weren’t hungry. Once you’re off, it won’t be as easy to manage cravings, eat small portions, avoid high caloric foods, etc. but there’s nothing about the meds themselves that will cause you to just gain weight if you stop taking them.
This is true. I'm 56 and weigh 114. I eat two meals a day and no snacks. I have to stay at 1,000 calories a day to not gain weight. I follow a high protein low carb lifestyle.
