Well, I picked Puerto Rico, so that? I'm going in a couple of weeks to celebrate my 50th. They have really good restaurants (better than Portugal). Also, Portugal is very far and it's hard to get over the jet lag. I love Old Town San Juan and the beaches. I mean, it helps that I've been to both places, but if I hadn't I'd go to whichever one I hadn't seen. New is big for me.
I don't believe for a second that the overall quality of restaurants in PR is better than Portugal. And the jet lag argument, meh. It sounds like you don't really like to travel far.
Well, have you been to both places? I have. Portugal is not known for its restaurants.
I haven't been to PR (but I'm a New Yorker whose best friends were Puerto Rican, so familiar with the cuisine), but I have been to Portugal, and it's absolutely false to say that their cuisine is inferior to anyone else's. Hell, I can eat bacalhau and Pastel de nata every single day, and that's just two dishes they're known for.
