There is a difference. [/quote] This. Crackers & Pasta are both quick processed carbs. Veggies are also carbs. Mind over matter. Track your macros, and budget to have a carb-containing (but not carb-prioritizing) meal 1-2 hours after your run. Allow yourself a SMALL carb snack with a protein shake post-run (think 30-70 calories) with your protein-shake or other high-carb food. If you're truly hungry, go with cottage cheese over a shake because it'll last longer and help you feel more full. Your body burns quick fuel for short distance runs, which is what most of the 5k training is going to be (even if it feels like a long distance to you). You have to understand that about your brain and push through its demand to immediately refuel with quick carbs like bread and sugar.[/quote]
