Mitch McConnell correctly predicted the 2022 red wave wouldn't happen due to the GOP's "candidate quality problem" during the Trump era. The Dems haven't had a legitimate POTUS primary since 2008 and that created a very obvious candidate quality problem by 2020.

Dem will compete for both the House and Senate in 2026 thanks to another unpopular GOP POTUS being in office. If there is an open and fair Dem primary in 2028, the pre-approved by the people Dem nominee won't present the quality problem and Dems will be heavily favored in the general election.[/quote]
